Niagara Shuts Out Siena Women's Soccer
Niagara scored twice in the final four minutes of the first half en route to a 3-0 victory over Siena Women’s Soccer in Western New York. Jayanna Monds led the Saints with four shots, including a pair on target.
Siena (4-9-4, 2-4-2) out-shot Niagara (7-7-2, 3-5-1) 7-6 in the first half, but the Purple Eagles struck twice late to take a commanding lead. Niagara went in front on an own goal in the 41st minute, and Veda Hensel scored with just five seconds remaining in the stanza to push the advantage to two.
Djeynaba Thiam added an insurance goal in the 75th minute for the Purple Eagles which improved to 5-1-1 at home. Sabrina Locas made eight saves to register the shutout.
Taylor Dorado stopped two shots for the Saints.
Siena returns home to host Fairfield for Senior Day Saturday at 1 p.m. The team will honor its five seniors in a special pre-match ceremony just prior to kickoff.
