SEASIDE, Calif. - The seventh-ranked University of California San Diego women's soccer team procured a late goal from the penalty spot and dispatched Cal State Monterey Bay, 1-0, Saturday at the Otter Sports Complex to put the finishing touches on a second consecutive undefeated California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) run.

The repeat CCAA regular-season champion Tritons went a perfect 12-0 in league play a year ago, and concluded the 2017 campaign at 10-0-1, a lone semi-blemish coming just two nights ago via 1-1 draw at Cal State East Bay. UC San Diego improves to 13-2-2 overall heading into the postseason, and is an unbeaten 24-0-1 over its past 25 CCAA contests.

As the top seed and host of the 2017 CCAA Tournament, two-time reigning and record 10-time tourney champion UC San Diego will await Tuesday's winner between No. 4 seed Chico State and No. 5 seed Cal State San Marcos, for a primetime semifinal this Friday night, Nov. 3. Kickoff at Triton Soccer Stadium on North Campus in La Jolla is slated for 7 p.m.

Cal State Monterey Bay finished at 5-9-4 overall and 2-8-2 in league play.

The game's lone goal came at the 78:14 mark, when redshirt sophomore holding central midfielder Natalie Saddic(San Diego/Torrey Pines HS) blasted her right-footed attempt hard into the upper left corner from the penalty spot for her second goal of 2017. Both have come from penalty conversions. True freshman Maddy Samilo (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS) was fouled in the box to earn the try.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Angelica Ramos finished with three saves for UCSD, posting her 11th individual shutout. Alyssa Noh had 10 stops for the Otters.

UCSD produced an 18-8 advantage in shots credited, including 9-2 in the second half, though in that period, the home side put together a couple of attacks that made for some nervous moments in the Triton penalty area.

Each team found the woodwork over the first 45 minutes, Sahana Bojorquez for Monterey Bay in the 22nd after Triton senior Elisa Martinez (El Cajon/Francis Parker School) in the 11th. Samilo's header then glanced off the post in the 49th.

UCSD had a cluster of four attempts within four minutes of each other, all saved by Noh, over the final nine minutes going into the interval. Those came courtesy of Katie O'Laughlin (Carlsbad/Pacific Ridge School), fellow senior Taylor Ramos (San Diego/Coronado HS), Saddic and junior Megumi Barber (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS).

Triton Notes: UCSD is an unbeaten 13-0-1 in the all-time series, outscoring the Otters, 41-5 ... The Tritons are a perfect 8-0 in Seaside ...
