ODU Advances In NCAA With 3-0 Win
Sidney Rivera scored two goals and Ryan Condotta added one as Old Dominion University men's soccer rolled to a 3-0 win over St. Francis Brooklyn in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Old Dominion (13-6-1) will face No. 8 seed Georgetown (12-4-4) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Georgetown.
The Monarchs dominated the first half of play, out-shooting the Terriers 12-1, but were held scoreless until the 28th minute when Rivera converted a penalty kick for his eighth tally of the year.
ODU pounced quickly in the second half scoring just two minutes in as Christian Schroeer send a free kick in from the right side that Ryan Condotta headed into the back of the net.
Rivera sealed the deal in the 66th minute off a tap pass from Geoffrey Hill to give the Monarchs a 3-0 lead. Rivera has now scored eight of his nine goals in the last six games, including four game-winning goals.
Alex Tiesenhausen had two saves in goal for the Monarchs while Jack Binks had six games for St. Francis Brooklyn.
