MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee women's soccer team remained unbeaten, but could not convert any of its 23 shots into goals Wednesday night in a 0-0 draw against Green Bay.
 
The Panthers (10-0-2, 2-0-1 Horizon League) dominated the overtime periods against the Phoenix (2-7-1, 1-1-1 Horizon League), recording all six of the combined shots, but both teams walked off the field after 110 minutes without a goal at Engelmann Stadium.
 
"I think Green Bay had a game plan and they worked it pretty well," UWM head coach Troy Fabiano said. "We had some issues breaking them down, but I also think we did not come out sharp for the first 75-80 minutes, meaning we didn't have a sense of urgency. In overtime and the last 10 minutes of regulation, we played with a sense of urgency. But Green Bay played extremely well, played extremely hard."
 
Mallory Geurts recorded five saves to complete her 10^th shutout of the season, a number that still ranks tops in the nation.
 
"That's always good when you don't give up goals," Fabiano said. "That's one of the positive things is that we didn't give up many chances, but in the same sense, we have to score some goals to win some games."
 
Milwaukee had its chances, especially in the first overtime period. Saebryn Peel sent a rocket from the top off the box off a nice feed from Jen Eberhardy in the 92^nd to get things started.
 
Next, Peel's cross was nearly mishandled in the box in the 98^th, rebounding out to Lourdes Onwuemeka. But her one-timer went just left.
 
A pair of chances were created in the 100^th minute, with Mackenzie Schill's header just off target and Kelli Swenson unable to direct her final last-second header on frame off a corner kick before the horn sounded.
 
The Green Bay defense created problems for UWM in the first, dropping all but a lone forward behind the ball. It resulted in just three first-half shots, just one by Schill on target. The Phoenix had the majority of early shots, but most were from distance without creating too many issues for Geurts.
 
Headers by both Onwuemeka in the 48^th and Peel in the 50^th just missed the posts, with Peel again unable to get a header on frame off an Eberhardy free kick in the 60^th.
 
Anna Smalley had an opportunity for a score late in regulation, but was unable to get much on her attempt after a nice buildup from Sydney Senn and Kiley Kreple, resulting in an easy save for the GB keeper at the post.
 
For the game, Milwaukee posted advantages of 23-to-12 in shots (6-5 in shots on goal) and 7-to-3 in corner kicks. Peel led the way with a career-high five shot attempts, while Maggie Fuller paced the Phoenix offense with three.
 
The Panthers take to the road next, heading to Ohio for a matchup with Wright State Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. CST.
