‘Roos Settle for Tie with ORU

<p>(Kansas City, Mo.) &ndash; <span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Sunday afternoon, the UMKC women&rsquo;s soccer team (0-1-1) battled all the </span>way to end and settled for a scoreless tie in its home opener with the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (0-1-1).</p> <p align="LEFT">For Kansas City, freshman keeper Nina Tzianos got her first career start in the net as she tallied six saves.</p> <p align="LEFT">Offensively, midfielder Ashley Gann was aggressive throughout Sunday&rsquo;s contest tallying eight shots, including two on-goal. In the second overtime during the 106th minute, the Lee&rsquo;s Summit, Mo. native found herself deep in Golden Eagle territory and fired a shot just high of the net.</p> <p align="LEFT">About three minutes later with time running down, Oral Roberts were in position to score with two corner kicks. But, the Kangaroo defense held strong, including a save by Tzianos in the 109th minute to keep the game scoreless.</p> <p align="LEFT">&ldquo;Overall, I was pleased with our effort today,&rdquo; said head coach Chris Cissell. &ldquo;We wanted to come away with the win, but I like they way we&rsquo;re progressing this early in the season.&rdquo;</p> <p align="LEFT">Coming up, the Blue &amp; Gold will travel in-state to face Southeast Missouri this Friday at 6:30 p.m.</p>
