Rosemont Women’s Soccer Drops Opener in OT
ROSEMONT, Pa. – In the opening game for both sides, Rosemont's women's soccer team played a tough brand of defense under the lights at the Ravens Athletic Complex this evening. So did the visiting Washington College Shorewomen. The teams remained scoreless until 3:31 was remaining in the first overtime period when Washington's Lexi Young connected on an assist from Melissa Barry to claim the 1-0 decision.
Ravens keeper Andrea Dossantos played a sparkling game in goal, logging six saves out of the seven shots on goal. Teammate Cassidy Steiner also had a header to give the Ravens a team save on an exciting stop in the middle of the 2nd half.
Rosemont's Savannah Widdicombe led the Ravens with a couple of shots, both on goal. Taylor Mohr, Victoria Kasper and Alexa Rhoads each got off a shot in the game.
The Ravens hope to keep their defense solid and to get some offensive momentum for their next outing, a non-conference game against Franklin & Marshall on Sunday, 9/6. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
