Rosero Sends Saints to Third Straight Win
Senior striker Junior Rosero scored the decisive goal in the 31st minute to lead Siena Soccer to a 1-0 victory at Niagara. Junior goalkeeper Aleksa Radosavljevic needed to make just one save in a total team effort to post his first collegiate clean sheet for the Saints.
Rosero gave Niagara (2-7-1, 1-2) fits throughout, singlehandedly out-shooting the Purple Eagles 10-7. He placed three of his attempts on target, including the game-winning goal.
Senior midfielder Peter Gadze fed classmate Uros Antic who played the ball through to the right wing to Rosero who finished inside the far left post to propel Siena (4-5-2, 2-0) to its third win in a row.
Overall, the Saints held a 16-7 advantage in shots and a 6-1 margin in corners in posting its fifth straight win over Niagara. Siena is now 19-7-4 all-time against its Western New York rivals, marking its most wins against any program.
Steve Casey made five saves in a losing effort for the Purple Eagles.
The Saints return to action Saturday for a MAAC Semifinals rematch at defending champion Rider at 1 p.m.
