SMU Falls at Cincinnati, 2-0

CINCINNATI (SMU) – Vanessa Valadez and Blair Thorpeled the Mustangs' offense with two shots each, but the effort fell short as the [RV] SMU women's soccer team lost 2-0 at Cincinnati Sunday afternoon.

SMU slides to 10-4-1 overall, and 4-1-1 in the American Athletic Conference, while the Bearcats improve to 9-4-2, and 2-2-1 in the AAC.

Julie Gavorski scored both of Cincinnati's goals, the first in the 18th minute and the second in the 80th. The forward converted a penalty kick to open scoring, before scoring off a free kick from 25-yards out late in the game.

SMU managed five shots, with two on goal. Valadez had one shot on goal, while freshman Katina Tsaposrecorded the other.

The Mustangs return home for their final two home games of the season. SMU will open with Memphis on Thursday, before celebrating its seniors on Sunday against Tulsa.
