Soccer Drops Season Finale
November 9, 2013
Louis Mobbs scored with 56 seconds remaining in regulation as Saint Peter’s beat Siena Soccer 2-1 in the season finale in Jersey City. The Saints finish the 2013 campaign with a 7-10-1 overall record and 3-6-1 mark in the MAAC.
Freshman Alex Portela scored an unassisted tally in the 35th minute to put the Saints on top. But Rafael Braga answered five minutes later for Saint Peter’s (4-9-5, 2-5-3) to knot the score.
Marcel Madee, who assisted on the Braga goal, also set-up the game-winner. His corner kick with less than a minute remaining was finished by Mobbs for the decisive tally.
Saint Peter’s out-shot the Saints 14-6 and held a 5-2 edge in corners. Both the Saints’ Adam Myers and the Peacocks’ Johan Romero made two saves apiece.
