Spartans stopped in Ketner Classic opener
ANGOLA, IND. – Junior defender/midfielder Brian Kautz (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior forward Loic Youth (Detroit, Mich.) each took two shot strikes to lead Manchester University in a 3-0 loss to Adrian College of Michigan Friday, Sept. 13.
The Spartans, falling to 1-3-1, were out-shot 14-6 by the Bulldogs. MU’s defense thwarted three attempts, but a penalty kick goal in the 12th minute and another score just over 14 minutes later gave Adrian a cushion they wouldn’t surrender.
One of Youth’s attempts did force a save from the opposing goalkeeper. He and Kautz were joined by freshman midfielder Matthew Jordan (Zionsville, Ind.) and junior forward/midfielder Ellis Whitt (Bourbon, Ind.) in the overall shots’ category.
MU resumes play at Trine University’s Ketner Classic Saturday, Sept. 14. The Spartans take on the host Thunder at 4 p.m. at Weaver Field on TU’s campus. Fans, friends and alumni of Manchester University athletics can follow live stats at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of the Spartans.
