• In the 74th minute, UMBC came down on the counter, and Kadeem Dacres had the ball near side to the keeper's right from about 30 yards away. He crossed it into the box to find Stephen Ho, who poked the ball into the net, right corner, from just a yard out. 

• In the 32nd minute, freshman Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) had the ball near the corner flag and crossed it in very close to the end line. The ball sailed to fellow freshman Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.), who had a great look at a header, but the ball sailed a tad high over the net.
• Between the 59th minute and the 62nd minute, there was a flurry of activity which included two great chances. Senior Raphael Abreu (New York, N.Y.) received the ball at the middle of the field 20 yards away, moved into the box and had a swift kick that was narrowly saved on a great play by UMBC goal keeper Phil Saunders. The rebound ended up on senior Kyle Schlesinger's foot, but his attempt at an open net went high.

• UMBC outshot Stony Brook 15-11 overall and in shots on goal 5-3.
• Stony Brook senior Stefan Manz (Bronx, N.Y.) made four saves, including an amazing stop on a header in the 29th minute of the match.
• Abreu led SB with two shots on goal.

• Stony Brook fell to 6-7-0 all-time against UMBC. It's SB's second straight 1-0 loss to the Retrievers at home.
• The Seawolves still control their own destiny for a bye into the semifinals. SB is three points ahead of Binghamton and Albany for second place and holds the tiebreaker over both teams.
