TDS Men's Division I Top 25: September 9
After a sensational run to last fall's national title game, Washington had holes to fill.
With its entire back line gone and Dylan Teves signing a Homegrown contract with the Seattle Sounders, the Huskies had plenty of work to do.
So far, the early returns are fantastic: three home games, three wins, and holding on to the No. 2 preseason rankings into the third week of the season.
Ilijah Paul scored a hat trick, and a breakout for the former RSL Academy forward would be huge. Nate Jones and Gio Miglietti have emerged as options in central defense, with Chris Meyers and Khai Brisco starting at outside back. It's early, but so far so good for the Huskies.
Duke and Wake Forest enter the top five on the back of strong starts, with the Blue Devils impressing last week in a 3-0 drubbing of Michigan. UCLA is knocking on the door as well, maintaining a strong start to the campaign.
