Temple Topped by Yale in double overtime 1-0
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Temple men’s soccer was topped by Yale in double overtime 1-0 on Tuesday night at Reese Stadium. Temple falls to 2-9-2 after their final nonconference game while Yale improves to 1-8-2.
Yale’s Conner Lachenbruch scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime period with less than two minutes left in the game. Henry Albrecht was tripped up in the box by goalkeeper Dan Scheck to draw the penalty kick.
Temple had a couple chances to win the game late but couldn’t convert. Dan White had a head go off the cross bar with almost 11 minutes left in regulation. In the second overtime, Olli Tynkkynen had a shot go off a defender and deflect off the outside of the post.
Scheck kept the Owls in the game with eight saves, four in each half. The Bulldogs outshot the Owls 18-10 in the game.
Temple returns back to conference play at Cincinnati on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Owls defeated the Bearcats 2-0 at home earlier this season on Sept. 27.
