U.S. roster for the 2015 Olympic Qualifying
On Friday, U.S. Soccer announced the roster for the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers. U.S. coach Andi Herzog called in 20 players to take part in the event as the home team aims to earn a spot at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Stanford star Jordan Morris is one of six forwards on the roster. After jumping back and forth between the full national team and the U23 side this past year, Morris figures to be one of the key players for this group.
There were not many surprises on the roster as most of the players who have been a part of the recent camps found a way onto the final list. There were some players who were not released by their clubs for the event.
The U.S. opens the Olympic Qualifying event on Oct. 1 against Canada at Sporting Park in Kansas City. The U.S. will also take on Cuba and Panama in Group A action.
U.S. Olympic Qualifying Roster:
Goalkeepers (3): Charlie Horton, Ethan Horvath, Zack Steffen
Defenders (5): Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt Miazga, Eric Miller, Will Packwood, Dillon Serna
Midfielders (8) : Fatai Alashe, Gboly Ariyibi, Luis Gil, Emerson Hyndman, Marc Pelosi, Matt Polster, Wil Trapp, Gedion Zelalem
