The No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team stayed perfect at home with a 3-0 win over UW-River Falls Saturday at Fiskum Field. The win marks the fourteenth in a row for the Warhawks who are now 15-1 overall and 4-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Falcons fall to 5-8-1 and 1-3 in league play.
 
Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) fired the first shot of the match, just three minutes into the game. River Falls goalkeeper Erica Cimochowski made the save but the rebound fell at the feet of Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) who fed Pottle for her eighth goal of the season and a 1-0 Warhawk lead.

Head Coach Ryan Quamme commented on the early goal saying, "We talk about the first five minutes after each kickoff. We keep the other team thinking about it and that gives us an edge. We have to continue to play that way."
 
Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) had an opportunity to stretch the Warhawk lead to two in the 17th minute, but her breakaway opportunity was snuffed out on a nice play by Cimochowski.
 
Warhawk goalkeeper Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) was tested for the first time in the 22nd minute on a long shot by Falcon midfielder, and leading scorer, Abby Soderholm, but she made the save to preserve the 1-0 lead.
 
Ten minutes into the second half, Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) made it 2-0 on a long shot that ricocheted off a Falcon defender into the net. The goal is her eighth of the season.
 
A pair of corner kicks in the 66th minute by Emily Mouille (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) provided an opportunity for the Warhawks to expand their lead, but the Falcon defense denied the chance.
 
Senior defender, and captain, Carina Krausert (Delafield, Wis./Catholic Memorial) helped out Klimisch in the 82nd minute, clearing a ball that was headed for the goal to keep the shutout intact.
 
On a counterattack, Ellie Wahlberg connected with Mouille for her third goal of the season and a 3-0 Warhawk advantage.
 
This was the ninth time in a row the Warhawks defeated UW-River Falls.
 
Klimisch earned the win, her 13th, and the shutout, her seventh, making two saves in the match.

"Our defense played great today. They limited the chances for River Falls and kept a zero on the board", Quamme added after the match.
 
The Warhawks, who sit atop the WIAC standings, will hit the road for their next two games, playing at UW-Platteville on Wednesday and at No. 24 UW-La Crosse next Saturday. Their final regular season game is on October 29th at 1 p.m. at Fiskum Field against UW-Stevens Point.
