Ahead of a huge week of matches in the West Coast Conference race, Kelsey Turnbow ensured that the Broncos would remain perfect through the first five games of Santa Clara’s season.

Turnbow came up huge during last week’s game against Pepperdine, tying the game at 3-3 late in the second half, and then scoring the winning goal in the second overtime. She scored another goal over the weekend, in a much more comfortable 4-0 win against Pacific.

The Broncos host BYU on Wednesday looking to cement their status as WCC favorites with four games left on the schedule.

Team of the Week: March 22-28

GK Lili Berg, Bowling Green – While the 3-0 score line was eventually a comfortable one, Berg came up with a huge save when the scores were tied 0-0. She came through with a clean sheet in an eventual 3-0 win against Ohio University.

D Jyllissa Harris, South Carolina – Harris continued to excel as a center back, leading the Gamecocks to a shutout and tallying a goal in a 3-0 win against Elon.

D Chai Cortez, Oregon – The Ducks went down to Northern California with a win and a draw. Cortez grabbed the winning goal in a 1-0 defeat of Cal, before helping keep Stanford off the score sheet in a 0-0 stalemate.

D Katie Shaffer, Eastern Kentucky – A senior from Ohio, Shaffer anchored a pair of huge wins in OVC play for EKU. She scored the winning goal against Southeast Missouri State, and anchored a shutout in a 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois.

M Brookelynn Entz, Kansas State – Trailing 3-1 with 10 minutes left against Missouri, Entz stepped up in a big way to help her team come away with a draw. She scored the tying goal just a minute after going down by two, and then setup Aliyah El-Nagger for the equalizer. Entz had a hand in all three goals, finishing the game with two tallies and an assist.

M Ruby Grant, North Carolina – Playing just her second college game, Grant entered the match against Tennessee and scored two goals, adding an assist in a 7-0 win over Tennessee.

M Tanya Boychuk, Memphis – A goal and assist from Boychuk anchored Memphis’ 3-2 win against Vanderbilt.

M Sabrina Bryan, Hofstra – The offensive juggernaut in the CAA continued to roll past opponents. Bryan scored two goals and had two assists in a 6-0 victory against Delaware.

F Frankie Tagliaferri, Penn State – The Nittany Lions clinched the Big Ten regular season title, sweeping a weekend trip to Nebraska and Iowa. Tagliaferri assisted on the winning goal against Iowa and then scored the first goal in a 3-0 win over Nebraska. Penn State now has four straight wins.

F Kelsey Turnbow, Santa Clara – Drafted by the Chicago Red Stars, Turnbow’s been in great form this season. She’s now on six goals and two assists in five games, with a huge chance this week for the Broncos.

F Alina Stahl, West Virginia – Facing a tough Duke team on Saturday, Stahl setup a goal and scored the winner in a close 3-2 matchup.
