The world’s game runs deep in the family roots of Michael Connell.
His father, also named Mike, arrived in the U.S. to play for the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the original NASL back in 1975. A native of South Africa, he played mroe than 250 games for the Rowdies, and put down roots in Florida.
The younger Connell, who players for his father’s club FC Tampa, recently committed to join North Florida, partially due to the team’s potential for success.
