A select few teams are still playing, but the majority of the country has already wrapped up girls soccer postseason action. Which means state titles galore for favorites and upstarts alike. A star-studded Class AA final four in New York headlined another great week as we wind down to the end of the fall season.

Here's a look at the stakes as we come dangerously close to the end of the year.

Region I

A week after taking the top spot from Exeter, Newton North consolidated its position by eking out a 1-0 win over Minnechaug in the Massachusetts Division 1 state title game. Newton North ended it in the most dramatic fashion possible, winning in the sixth round of penalty kicks to extend its unbeaten run to 21 games. Notre Dame Academy rocketed up the poll to No. 6 this week on the heels of its Massachusetts Division 2 title over then-No. 12 Wilmington. Like the state’s Division 1 finale, Notre Dame (21-2-0) won the title in a thrilling penalty shootout.
