The holidays bring tournaments -- and this year's winter high school rankings certainly will come into focus over the next month.

With the 808 Showcase, the adidas West Coast Classic and Aliso Cup finished, the Arizona, California and Hawaii boys teams are falling into order. This week, Lotto-Sport Western Showcase in San Clemente, Calif., takes center stage, featuring an eight-team field where seven teams are regionally ranked -- three of them No. 1 -- and five are expected to be in this week's TopDrawerSoccer FAB 50. Upcoming events in San Diego and Texas will provide quite a bit of clarity to the rankings between now and Jan. 6.

The Aliso Cup and Butch Lee Memorial played out over the weekend to provide a better look at the top California girls programs. The Aliso Cup final is scheduled to be played Monday, Dec. 11. Torrey Pines (Calif.) won the Butch Lee Memorial to vault back into a high ranking position.

Only California-North and California-South boys saw changes at No. 1 this week. In Califrnoa-North, Archbishop Mitty (Calif.) boys moved to No. 1 after a loss by Jesuit (Calif.), while [Danville Monte Vista ca-w] (Calif.) and Davis (Calif.) girls flipped spots following a Davis tie. Servite (Calif.) takes over the California-South No. 1 spot this week, replacing Paramount (Calif.), but it is possible this perennial powers could meet Friday night in the Lotto-Sport Western Showcase.

Now, one with the state and region rankings, which feature more than 100 teams.
