Golme brings old-fashioned quality to mobile goals
June 12, 2009
Graham Munro can still vividly remember watching his father during those late nights in the garage. Under the dim glow of an old light bulb his dad would handcraft portable goals the old-fashioned way.
Years later, Graham is still overseeing the development of top quality mobile goals – now as the owner of Golme, a company that retains the quality lessons Graham learned as a kid back in his garage.
Golme can be set-up anywhere, anytime.Based out of Reno, Nevada, Golme is a family-owned business dedicated to delivering superior service and excellent products – just the way things should be.
“We take all of our relationships with customers very seriously,” Munro said. “They are our No. 1 priority. This business started because of a lack of quality fields for teams and the fact that players were unable to enjoy the game with full-sized goals. We’re about designing quality products that are different.”
The unique products offered by Golme include several goal options designed for specific age groups. The Regulation Youth model is a 6.5 x 18.5 goal that weighs 23 pounds; Modified Youth is 7 x 21 and 26 pounds and the Regulation Adult is 8x24 and 27.5 pounds. Modified Youth sizes are also available.
In keeping with the evolution of the game and the popularity of beach soccer, Golme has also released the new Golme Beach Box for those who love competing in the sand.
Each goal is made for easy transport, set-up and takedown.
“A huge factor for us also is designing something that is safe. You’ve seen the goals that tip over and don’t really look like a real goal. Our product couldn’t be further from that. We use the best materials and have addressed all potential issues, like the possibility of it tipping over.”
Because Graham comes from a deeply embedded soccer family and has played the game all of his life he has a unique perspective that allows him to reach his consumers in a special way.
“I probably spend more time with the products than our customers do,” he said. “It’s a lifestyle for me, and I feel like I’m in tune with what they want and need, and that is the top priority of everything we do here at Golme.”
With its products available in hundreds of stores nationwide, Golme continues to grow and plans to include equipment for training, speed and agility in the future.
“We’re growing really fast and moving into more and more major markets,” Munro said. “We’re very excited. The future looks really bright.”
