U.S. U17s make final bid for Cup roster
October 31, 2011

CARSON, California – The U.S. U17 Women’s National Team provided one final glimpse at the potential CONCACAF Qualifying roster for the 2012 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup on Saturday as they capped their weeklong camp at the Home Depot Center.
An intrascrimmage match served as the final opportunity for players to shine and impress coach Albertin Montoya.
Montoya mentioned early in the week that he’d be putting a special emphasis on team chemistry when selecting his unit. And while there’s no telling exactly which players he’ll peg for the squad, here’s a look at who showcased the best during the camp.
Morgan Andrews: As sure a bet as there is to make the Cup team. A captain and veteran of the U.S. National program, she’s a dominant presence on the backline and also a goal-scoring presence as she displayed in the final intrascrimmage.

Summer Green:
Green is one of the team’s more dynamic and industrious players and she continued to show dangerous offensive flashes throughout
camp. She’s a confident and aggressive attacker who we expect will also make the team.
Andi Sullivan: Sullivan was one of the more conspicuous players throughout the week. She plays hard and fights for possessions using her size to her advantage. She’s the kind of energy player who could make a strong impact on the Cup team.
Emily Bruder: Bruder got a lot of looks as the team’s premier striker and for good reason. She’s physically strong and can really keep defenders at bay. With her powerful right leg and knowhow around the goal she’s an impact player.
Gabbi Miranda: A smooth left-footed defender who is skilled with the ball at her feet. Miranda is confident playing the ball forward and showed off some nifty moves in tight space during the week.
Elizabeth Raben: Showed good fight as a center back and was one of the more dependable defenders. Raben is tall and aggressive when she needs to be.
Darian Jenkins: Welcome to the party, Jenkins! Enjoying a great final scrimmage on Saturday Jenkins reacquainted us all with her natural abilities. She’s speedy and dangerous and she made plenty happen on the final day, opening up the possibility that she could get more consideration for the Cup.

The following players didn’t necessarily electrify at this camp but are expected make the qualifying roster.

Toni Payne: She plays with imagination and is one of the team’s’ top play-makers.

Morgan Stanton: Very steady and solid midfielder who can keep possessions and isn’t going to make a lot of mistakes.

Joanna Boyles: A U.S. Soccer veteran, Boyles is a physical presence the team can use in the midfield.

Cup hopefuls

Technically, the rest of the roster could be put into this category, but here are a couple players in particular.

Claire Wagner: Showed some good signs defensively, and could be an asset if given the chance.

Amber Munerlyn: A dangerous goal-scorer who was making an adjustment from striker to the midfield this past week.
