Shortly after announcing the addition of Ethan Kohler last week, USL Championship side Oakland Roots has also signed defender Drew Murray.

“We are pumped to be adding another local young standout talent,” Roots Technical Director Jordan Ferrell said in a statement. “Drew has shown his high-level potential already and we look forward to integrating him into our set up in this next phase of his career.”

Like Kohler, Murray played for the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and was called into U.S. U19 National Team camp twice last year. The center back also was named an MLS NEXT All Star. He had previously committed to UCLA.
