CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 29, 2013) – Seventeen top female players born in 1998 from across the country are set to gather Friday for the 2013 id² National Selection Training Camp, to be held Aug. 2-5 at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.

The camp is being held simultaneously with the ECNL / id² National Training Camp, which features top female players in the 1995, 1996, and 1997 age groups.

A joint effort between US Club Soccer’s id² National Player Identification and Development Program and Nike, the id² National Selection Training Camp represents the “final programming” element of the id² Program for girls born in 1998. Participants were chosen from among all attendees at id² Program Training Camps held over the past 12 months.

The camp will provide players the opportunity to work with some of the nation’s best coaches, play with and against some of the nation’s best players in their age group, and be scouted by on-site U.S. National Team staff. The players will come together for three full days of elite training, competition, and presentations at one of the world’s premier athletic facilities.

“This is the first year of the National Selection component for the girls id² Program,” said US Club Soccer Executive Vice President Christian Lavers. “This experience will give these young players a glimpse of the highest level of youth soccer in the U.S., and hopefully help prepare many of them for future youth national team programming down the road.”

Beyond the trainings, competitions, and presentations scheduled for the camp, players will also attend a Portland Thorns NWSL match to watch the highest level of women’s professional soccer live. 

As with all id² Program events, there is no camp fee, and lodging, meals and training gear will be provided by the US Club Soccer and Nike. For this final-stage camp, airfare to and from the camp is also being provided by US Club Soccer for the players born in 1998.
