The Boston College women's soccer team scored five first half goals and never looked back as the Eagles defeated NC State, 6-2, in an ACC match on Sunday afternoon in front of 467 fans at the Newton Soccer Field.

Boston College is now 9-5-2 overall and 3-4 in the conference. NC State is now 5-11 and 0-7 in the ACC. BC will host No. 1 Florida State (8-0-0) on Thursday, October 18 at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

BC was led by sophomore Stephanie McCaffrey with two goals and two assists, while freshman McKenzie Meehan added two goals. Senior Kristen Mewis had one goal and three assists.

The Eagles opened the scoring quickly as freshman Jana Jeffrey scored just four minutes into the game. Jeffrey, who earned her first career start, directed a shot into the far corner off a beautifully placed through ball from Stephanie McCaffrey.

Four minutes later, an NC State defender dropped McCaffrey just outside the box to the left of the Wolfpack goalkeeper. Mewis' free kick went into the top far corner and BC was up 2-0.

NC State responded five minutes later when Brittany Stanko scored on a breakaway between two Eagle defenders. Stanko placed the ball by an oncoming BC goalkeeper Alex Gaul to cut into the lead, 2-1, in the 13th minute.

Seconds later, Boston College responded when Mewis sent McCaffrey down the sideline. The sophomore forward chipped the ball with her outside foot to the far corner for a 3-1 BC lead.

Meehan would pick up the next two goals for BC and the Eagles. One goal came on a corner kick and the second came on a cross from Mewis into the box.

In the second half, McCaffrey opened the half up with a beautiful individual effort down the left sideline. McCaffrey dribbled through three NC State defenders and punched the ball just over the outstretched hands of the goalkeeper into the far post in the 52nd minute.

NC State would score get on the board for the second time when a long ball went into the box. The bounce was misplayed by the Eagles and Rachel Harris chipped the ball into the back of the goal in the 78th minute.

BC had a 24-11 edge in shots taken, while NC State had five corner kicks to four for the Eagles. Senior Alexa Gaul played the first half for BC and had no saves, while junior Jessica Mickelson played in the second half and made one save.
