With a total of eight seniors graduating after a milestone filled year, the Eastern Washington Women's Soccer program has inked an extremely promising 2015 recruiting class, totaling 14 student-athletes for its upcoming 2015 season, as announced by Head Coach Chad Bodnar on Wednesday, February, 4th.

All of the new recruits for the upcoming year will join the Eagles directly out of high school. The class of 2015 is comprised of players hailing from six different states; six from the local state of Washington, three from California, two from Arizona, and a single player coming from Colorado, Idaho, and Nevada.

"We are extremely optimistic with this group of players we have brought in for our first true EWU signing class," said Bodnar, "Our staff has worked tirelessly to search out the best student-athletes we could find that wanted to be a part of what we are doing here at EWU, and that have the mentality we want to bring in. These new players all understand the importance they bring to our program as we continue to shape it in to what the vision our current players and staff see down the road our program being. We have a great mix of players that can do a lot of different things for us in the 2015 season. It's a very large class in comparison to what most years for a Division 1 program, but I am very excited to see the competition level in the fall when we get going.  We have a lot of new faces and everyone here will start with a clean slate and have a chance to compete right away. I am very encouraged with not only the quality of athletes coming in but even more so the quality of person these student athletes are."

The work rate and fitness level she brings to a team is hard to replace. She creates goals with this work rate and is very unpredictable in how she goes at defenses. The future for Alexis is bright as she continues to refine her game and adapts to the division one level here at EWU. We are extremely happy she is going to be a part of what we are doing."

Lexi is a very versatile player that I can see possibly playing in several spots for us as she gets comfortable and finds her way here. There is a huge upside to her defending and tracking of players that allows her to be valuable in multiple ways for us. "

Maddy Boyd | 5'6" | Forward | Spokane, Wash. (Mt. Spokane High School) | Spokane Shadow SC

Coach Bodnar on Boyd: "Maddy is another very athletic player that will compete for a spot in many different areas I think in the years to come. It may take her some time to adjust to the Division One level but we saw a huge upside in her.  She runs extremely well and causes backlines problems with her pace. Maddy is a well-rounded student-athlete from the Spokane area who played for very quality club coaches and she understands the game well."

Coach Bodnar on Blaser: "Brenna came on campus and was a fit in my eyes right away. Her personality, tenacity, and work rate compliment her motor and technical ability in the middle of the park. She comes from a well respected club in Boise that produces high level players and has the pedigree with her sister also being a division one player. I see Bre being a spark for us in the middle of the park or up top and pushing players right away for playing time. "

Coach Bodnar on Chavez: "Jenny is a very technical little player that is also very versatile. She can play in different roles in the midfield, in the back, or up top, depending on what is needed or where she best fits in the group. She is very unselfish as a player and just ties the game together with her passing ability. Jenny has good pace, and a tremendous ability to lead by example with her work rate and personality."

Coach Bodnar on Bringgold: "Emily is another versatile player coming in but one we see playing in the back for us right away. She has the athleticism to deal with high level front runners and is smart in how she cuts angles and makes play predictable for those defending with her. She is also extremely competent with the ball at her feet and can direct a backline with her understanding of the game. Emily sold us with her drive to want to be a part of a program that wins right away and her competitiveness. "

Gabrielle Gines | 5' 9" | Defender | Littleton, Colo.  (Dakota Ridge High School) | Colorado Rush ECNL

  • 2014 Colorado 1st Team All-State Defender

She is very capable in the air and a target on set pieces in the attack. Another proven winning mentality, she impressed me with her ability to play out of the back and connect with central players. Her personality was a perfect fit for what we are looking for in our program."

Coach Bodnar on Spataro: "Megan is another high level ECNL player we were fortunate enough to come across somewhat late in the process. Her club coaching staff is very good and she is very intelligent in how she defends. She's played against some of the top front runners in the country and has experience at the highest of levels of ODP and ECNL. Megan is also a very good student and a great teammate. I look for Megan to come in and compete for playing time right away, and be a huge impact in our program over the next four years."

Coach Bodnar on Self: "Josie is a player we watched quite a bit over the last year. She always seemed to make us want to come back and see her again. She has a great frame and is a very quality athlete that has a huge plus side down the road for us. Her personality and effort level when she plays is very enticing for any coach. She's capable with the ball at her feet and is also versatile in what she can do for a team on the field. I think once she settles in and adjusts a bit to the speed of play she will be a big positive for our program sometime in the near future."

Maia Inniss | 5' 8" | Defender | Granada Hills, Calif. (Granada Hills Charter High School)  | Select Cities SC

Maia brings size and athletic ability to a backline and is another personality that draws people near her. She has the ability to deal with balls out of the air well, which we need for the style of play a lot of teams in the Big Sky implement. Maia is a fierce competitor and another person we are excited to see how she fits in to the puzzle when August rolls around."

Victoria Lindstrom | 5'5" | Defender | Vancouver, Wash.   (Battle Ground High School) | Washington Premier FC ECNL

Coach Bodnar on Lindstrom: "Vic is a quick little technical player that can do a lot of different things for a team. She comes from the same high level club team as Megan and has played in very top level games around the country. With a lot of competition in the squad in August we thought Vic would come in and push other returners and incoming freshman with her athletic ability. She has the ability to play on the flank as a fullback or wide player and test teams with her speed and attacking ability out wide."

Kayla Goebel | 5'6" | Defender | Phoenix, Ariz.   (Sandra Day O'Connor High School) | SC del Sol ECNL

  • 2014, 2013 Sandra Day O'Connor Defensive MVP

There are many things she does well on the field, and she is another person we have brought in that can fill many rolls and do many different things depending on what is required. She is a player that comes from an ECNL program that has played top notch competition and knows what is required to grow and compete as a high level athlete. She also runs very well and is technically solid with the ball at her feet."
