Jenna Bike Leads Eagles Past Pacific, 5-1

Freshman Jenna Bike had a goal and three assists to lead Boston College past Pacific (0-5-1), 5-1, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match. Boston College is now 5-0-1 and will host Harvard on Wednesday night at 7. Pacific is now 0-5-0 and will play at Fresno State on Friday at 7 p.m.

TURNING POINT

The Eagles earned their second corner kick of the game just 15 minutes into play. Jenna Bike's ball went to the far post, 10 yards out. Freshman Kayla Jennings headed the ball into the far post for a 1-0 BC lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Pacific had a chance to score early when Katelyn Chandler beat BC goalkeeper Alexis Bryant outside the 18-yard box. Chandler got a foot on the ball and sent a slow roller to the far post in the 13th minute of play. The ball hit the post and BC junior defender Allyson Swaby.

- The Eagles countered two minutes later with Kayla Jennings fourth goal of the season.

- Freshman Jenna Bike ripped a shot from 16 yards out off a pass from McKenzie Meehan to give BC a 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute.

- At the half had a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.

- Senior Hayley Dowd scored the third goal as she slipped the ball through the hands of Pacific goalkeeper Lena Perry's hands in the 53rd minute.

- The game broke open when BC scored two goals in a minute. McKenzie one-timed a beautiful pass in the box from rookie Jenna Bike. Bike broke by the defense and sent the ball to the middle of the field to Meehan. She gave it back to Bike who then carried the ball into the box and placed it on Meehan's foot from six yards out for the goal. Off the reset, BC gained possession and earned a corner kick. Bike sent a beautiful ball into the box, just about 10 yards out, and sophomore Amber Stearns headed the ball into the back of the goal. It was her first career goal.

- With 27 minutes to play, Pacific's Raven Edwards one-touched a loose ball in the box that bounced away from the Eagles keeper Erin Seppi. Freshman defender Samantha Hiatt cleared the loose ball before Edwards could get a better touch on the ball.

- Pacific scored with 10 minutes left in the match off a long ball into the box that Sigrid Aas one-timed into the goal.
