Mustangs Edged At Connecticut, 2-1
STORRS, Conn. (SMU) – The SMU women's soccer team fell at Connecticut, 2-1, Thursday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
"After a slow start, I thought we played pretty well," SMU head coach Chris Petrucelli said. "The game was pretty even. I thought in the second half, we started to pass the ball better and we had a couple of chances. It was unfortunate that they got a goal toward the end."
Connecticut would take a 1-0 lead into halftime after Yamilee Eveillard managed to head home a cross in the 7th minute of play.
In the 56th, defender Katharine Herron found the SMU equalizer. Off a Haley Thompson corner kick, Herron was able to beat the Husky backline and net a header.
The Huskies found the eventual game-winner in the 88th, as Eveillard managed to squeak by the SMU backline and finish from inside of the 18-yard box.
SMU rounds off the final road trip of the year Sunday at Temple. The match is slated for 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT.
