Orange's Winning Streak Snapped at USF

TAMPA, Fla. – The Syracuse women’s soccer team had its four-game winning streak snapped in a 1-0 setback at USF on Friday, Oct. 12. The Orange goes to 8-5-2 on the season, 5-2-1 in BIG EAST play, while the Bulls improve to 9-4-2 overall, 5-1-2 in conference action.

Syracuse applied offensive pressure from the opening kick as freshman Jackie Firenze (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) produced two shots in the first eight minutes. USF recorded the only goal of the game in the ninth minute when Kelly Campbell found the back of the net for the first time this season on an assist from Taylor Patterson.

The Orange was the more dangerous team in the second half as it outshot the Bulls, 9-2, but it couldn’t take advantage of its opportunities. Syracuse finished the game with 18 shots and six corner kicks compared to six shots and three corner kicks for USF. SU goalkeeper Brittany Anghel (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded one save, while Christiane Endler made five saves for the Bulls.

Syracuse plays its final road contest of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 14 when it takes on No. 22/15 Marquette in Milwaukee, Wisc. at 1 p.m.
