PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s soccer team (7-1-1, 1-0-0 ACC) continued its historic start to 2015, topping NC State, 2-0, on the way to several program marks Sunday afternoon at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

“We’re still very young in the season and things can change on a dime game-to-game,” said head coach Greg Miller. “It’s such a tough league. We’ll just take each game separately, as we have. We’re focused on each game, getting better each outing, and trying to grab points wherever we can.”

The win was the Panthers’ sixth consecutive victory – the longest such streak in the team’s history. It was also the first home ACC win for Pitt since joining the conference in 2013, and third overall after taking two victories on the road last season.

Senior forward Roosa Arvas collected a point on a corner kick assist to give her 52 for her career, making her the program’s new all-time points leader.

The Wolfpack (4-6-0, 0-1-0 ACC) managed just seven shots, one on goal, as they were unable to mount consistent offensive efforts leading to Pitt’s league-leading fifth shutout of the year.

The Panthers jumped in front on a strong individual effort from freshman Jarena Harmon. Harmon added to her team-leading goals total by collecting her fifth of the year in the 30^th minute. The freshman received the ball at around 10 yards out before turning to beat two defenders for a shot inside the right post.

Pitt struck again in the second half on the set piece from Arvas to redshirt freshman Seyla Perez. Perez finished the beautiful service for her first collegiate goal in the 53^rd minute.

The Panthers will look to continue their winning ways this Thursday against Wake Forest back at Ambrose Urbanic Field at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
