SIUE Men's Soccer Earns Tournament Title
SAN DIEGO – Thanks to a win and a tie over the weekend, SIUE men's soccer was named champions of the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Tournament.
The Cougars posted back-to-back shutouts, playing to a scoreless draw Friday night at San Diego State, before blanking San Diego 2-0 Sunday. The Cougars were the only team with a win in the four team tournament.
For his efforts on the backline, SIUE junior defender Austin Ledbetter was chosen as the tournament's Defensive Most Valuable Player. Fellow defenders Brett Lane and Justin Bilyeu as well as midfielders Ivan Gutierrez and Keegan McHugh were named to the All-Tournament team.
