South Carolina standout GK signs in Japan
With her stellar four-year college career in the books, South Carolina star goalkeeper Mikayla Krzeczowski has officially turned pro.
Krzeczowski signed a contract with FC Jumonji Ventus in Japan, which officially kicks off its 2020 season in early April, should it proceed as scheduled.
"I'm excited to announce that I have signed my first professional football contract with FC Jumonji Ventus," Krzeczowski said. "I would like to thank my parents, former teammates, and the many coaches that have contributed to my development over the years. I still have so much to learn, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me."

Based out of Saitama, a 30-minute drive from Tokyo, Krzeczowski joins a club that earned promotion to the Nadeshiko League, the first division of women's professional soccer in the country.
A four-year starter for the Gamecocks, Krzeczowski finished her career holding a slew of program records at the SEC program. She appeared in 89 matches, securing 50 shutouts, the third most in NCAA women's soccer history. Boasting a career goals-against-average of 0.45, she earned SEC goalkeeper of the year honors in 2019 and was named to an All-SEC squad all four seasons. She was named to the TDS Third Team Best XI at the end of the 2019 season, and back-stopped South Carolina's run to the College Cup in 2017.
