Washington, D.C.---The St. Francis Brooklyn men's soccer team used three second half goals to put away the Howard University Bison, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon from Greene Stadium. With the win, the Terriers improve to 3-2 on the season, unbeaten in their last two contests. Howard drops to 0-5 on the campaign. The victory was also the 50^th career victory for head coach Tom Giovatto. 

“I thought we played well today.  It was an overall good team effort,” commented Giovatto.  “The boys responded well after giving up an early goal.  They stuck with the game plan and good things happened.  We had solid contributions from everyone today.  Its’ good to see Kevin (Correa) and Gabriel (Bagot) scoring.   I thought that Kristoffer (Lindfors) and Viktor (Bakkioui) along with all the reserves gave us valuable minutes today.”

Howard was able to break through the Terrier defense and record the first goal of the match off the foot of Rahman Alarape in the 16^th minutes. The Bison’s Mario Martin was able to feed Alarape from the right side of the field as Alarape was able to fire a shot twelve yards out for the 1-0 lead.

The Terriers used most the stanza to catch up and got the equalizer in the 39^th minute.  Junior midfielder Cyril Coisne passed was deflected by a Bison defender in the box.  Junior forward Kevin Correa was able to corrall the loose ball and blast one past Howard’s Eric Hamilton for the tying marker.  For Correa, it was his fourth career goal and fourth in as many games.

Both teams increased the tempo in the second half of play.  St. Francis Brooklyn broke the 1-1 draw in the 78^th minute. Senior midfielder Kristoffer Lindfors was able to locate Correa as the reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year was able to beat Hamilton again for his second goal of the contest. 

It is the second straight game that a Terrier has netted two goals in a contest.  In the home opener against Saint Peter’s, senior forward Gabriel Bagot tallied two markers in the 3-1 victory over the Peacocks.

Three minutes later, the Terriers added an insurance goal off the foot of Lindfors. Correa was able to place a well-timed pass that found Lindfors outside the box. The senior midfielder launched a shot on goal to give St. Francis Brooklyn the 3-1 advantage.  For Lindfors, it was his first career goal.

The Terriers closed the game out with a fourth goal in the 83^rd minute as Bagot received a long feed from Correa.  Bagot was able to beat his defender and booted the shot to the low left corner of the goal to seal the win for St. Francis Brooklyn. 

For the match, the Terriers outshot the Bison by a 16-9 advantage why recording four corner kicks in the contest.  Sophomore goalkeeper Seth Erdman, starting his first game for the Terriers, picked up his first win as a member of the Terriers, recording two saves on the afternoon.  Howard’s Eric Hamiliton was credited with one save. 

St. Francis Brooklyn will head up the Henry Hudson Parkway on September 22^nd as they travel to Riverdale to tangle with the Manhattan College Jaspers.  Kickoff from Gaelic Park is scheduled for 11:00 am.
