STORRS, Conn. – University of Connecticut senior midfielder Adria Beso Marco (Lleida, Spain) scored the game-winner in the 103^rd minute to lift the UConn men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over in-state rival Yale Tuesday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in front of a crowd of 2,241. With the win, the Huskies (5-1-1 American Athletic) improve to 8-6-2 overall, while the Bulldogs drop to 1-10-3 this season.

Beso Marco’s goal came moments after Connecticut sophomore midfielder Kwame Awuah (Toronto, Ontario) dribbled into the box and slipped the ball to sophomore Ethan Vanacore-Decker. The UConn strikers was unable to get a shot off before a Yale defender kicked the ball away to Beso Marco who calmly drilled a shot into the lower left corner of the net to secure the win. The goal was his third of the season and his first career game-winner, and the result marked UConn’s first win in overtime this year.

Vanacore-Decker (Manahawkin, N.J.) paced the Husky offense early, putting three shots on goal within the first 10 minutes of the match. The striker nearly put the Huskies on the board in the 4^th minute as he fired a shot that was cleared off the line by a Yale defender following a Connecticut corner kick.

The Huskies continued to produce the majority of the scoring opportunities in the second half, starting in the 54^th minute after Connecticut earned a free kick from 23 yards out. Vanacore-Decker lined up for the set piece, sending in a curling shot that required another quality save from Brown near the right side of the net.

Connecticut drew one final scoring chance in regulation in the 85^th minute when Beso Marco attempted a free kick from just outside the box. His ball in found senior defender Sergio Campbell (Clarendon, Jamaica), but the senior captain was unable to get a shot away and the two teams headed to overtime. UConn outshot the Bulldogs, 20-5, in regulation.

The best scoring chance for either team in overtime came with under 30 seconds remaining in the first extra period following a dangerous cross in from sophomore defender Jakob Nerwinski (Lawrenceville, N.J.). The ball couldn’t find any of the UConn players in the box as it rolled near the left side of the box, where it was cleared away.

Connecticut redshirt goalkeeper Scott Levene (Stamford, Conn.) needed just one save to earn his fifth shutout of the season. The Huskies are back in action on Saturday when they face No. 25 USF on the road in their regular season finale. With a win against the Bulls, Connecticut will win its 13^th conference regular season title. UConn also wins the regular season title with a tie against USF and a Tulsa tie against Central Florida.
