Shae O'Rourke is the Women’s College Player of the Week after scoring both goals to hand Tennessee a historic victory over No. 1 North Carolina.

MORE: Women's Division l Scoreboard

Prior to the season, Tennessee had never defeated the No. 1 ranked team in the country, and it had been 24 years since a defending national champion lost its opening match of the season. O’Rourke changed all of that in one night, scoring two well-taken goals to lead the unranked Volunteers to a shocking 2-0 upset victory over the Tar Heels. The redshirt sophomore then followed that with a goal in just 24 minutes of action as Tennessee ran riot in a 9-0 defeat of Eastern Kentucky.

D: Elise Evans, Stanford - The 2022 TDS Freshman of the Year is off to a hot start with a goal and two assists to cap off dominant victories over San Francisco and Santa Clara.

M: Ellie Garrison, Appalachian State - Garrison was clutch and clinical on the week, scoring three goals and two game winners in defeats of Western Carolina and Miami.

M: Lena Johnsen, Fordham - The junior midfielder made soccer look easy in a nearly flawless performance where she provided three assists to defeat Marist 4-0.

M: Megan Santa Cruz, Purdue - Purdue got off to a 2-0 start largely thanks to Santa Cruz providing a creative spark with two goals and an assist to defeat Indiana State and Ball State.

F: Shae O'Rourke, Tennessee - A record breaking two-goal performance versus No. 1 North Carolina followed by another strike against Eastern Kentucky gave O’Rourke a legendary week.
