Indiana, Montana, North Carolina and Tennessee crowned state champions over the weekend, but it was a county title in New Jersey and a league tournament in Maryland that held the greatest significance in the race for No. 1.

On the girls side, region No. 1 Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) strengthened its case for a top ranking with a 2-0 win over Immaculate Heart Academy (Township of Washington, N.J.) in the Bergen County final. No. 2 McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) routed Notre Dame Prep (Baltimore, Md.) 4-0 in the IAAM A final Sunday to complete a second straight perfect season. However, McDonogh's earlier 2-1 win over Immaculate Heart Academy will keep the Eagles on the outside of a second straight national title for the time being.

On the boys side, top-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) cruised into the week's Prep A final, maintaining its state, region and SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 billing for the week.
