TopDrawerSoccer is pleased to unveil the Spring High School Best XI, highlighting the top players from the latest prep soccer seasons. Only athletes from states that wrapped up the high school season in 2026 qualify for the list. The criteria used to evaluate the candidates considered several factors, including post-season honors, trophies won, individual accomplishments, impact on winning, and the difficulty level of the respective league and classification.
First Team Best XI
GK Xavier Peregrina, Ogden (Utah) - Few keepers dominated as much as Peregrina this season, as the senior led Ogden to a third consecutive state title while earning Utah 3A Player of the Year honors. The USU Eastern commit leaves the program with 43 consecutive wins as a three-time first-team all-state selection.
D Tyler Curfiss, Glenvar (Virginia) - Anchoring one of the most dominant teams in American history, Curfiss is a must-have on the first team. The Virginia Class 2 player of the year led Glenvar to a fourth consecutive state title, 84 straight unbeaten games, and pitched in nine goals and nine assists in the latest 22-0-1 season.
D Nick Pitman, Bishop McGuinness (Oklahoma) - Selected as one of the best two-sport athletes in the country, Pitman backed up the hype by leading Bishop McGuinness to its first state title in 19 years. The dominant junior center back marshaled the back line to just ten conceded in 18 games, while pitching in nine goals, including one in the state final.
D Julian Flores, Auburn (Alabama) - The junior captain led Auburn to its first Alabama 7A state title in eight years. Although primarily at center defensive midfield, Flores showed an expertise in protecting a backline that blitzed the state tournament with an 11-1 goal differential.
M Trenton Kutch, Walnut Grove (Texas) - No player dominated high school soccer this spring as much as Kutch, who received Gatorade Texas Player of the Year honors for the second straight season. The senior midfielder led the Wildcats to a successful title defense, a 31-0 record, and a 59th consecutive win, while scoring 53 goals and assisting on 17 in the talent-rich Texas soccer scene.
M Brody Pike, Powdersville (South Carolina) - Scoring 39 goals and assisting 21 times, Pike led the Patriots to a 27-1 record and a second straight South Carolina 3A title. The UAB commit saved his best performance for last, scoring 5 and assisting one in a legendary 6-1 state final victory.
M James Obleda, Mater Dei (California) - California combined their state championships for the first time this season, and Obleda ensured Mater Dei ruled the highest classification. The well-rounded midfielder did a bit of everything, scoring 12 and assisting 14 as the Monarchs finished 21-1-3.
M Ryan Gottschalk, Johns Creek (Georgia) - Johns Creek won the Georgia 5A title, led by Gottschalk, who managed 24 goals and 12 assists. The Gladiators finished the year 22-1 thanks to the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year-winning senior.
F Sayan Hobbi, Sunrise Mountain (Arizona) - The junior forward dominated Arizona this year, leading the Mustangs to a 19-3-3 record and open division state championship. Hobbi finished with 40 goals and 14 assists, including one of each in a thrilling 4-3 state final victory.
F Aaron Leon-Bedolla, Eastmont High School (Washington) - The Washington soccer scene is stacked, yet Leon-Bedolla made easy work of it, scoring 46 and assisting nine to lead the Wildcats to their first state title. The Seattle commit saved his best soccer for when it mattered most, scoring hat tricks in the state semifinal and final as Eastmont finished the year 17-4-1.
F Ethan Leslie, Kelly Walsh (Wyoming) - While there are others who matched the prolific season Leslie had, scoring 31 and assisting 10, few can say they scored four goals in the state final. That capped off an epic season for the Trojans, who finished 17-2-2.
