TopDrawerSoccer is pleased to unveil the Spring High School Best XI, featuring the top players from the latest prep soccer seasons. Only athletes from states that sanctioned at least one high school game between January and June qualified for the list. The criteria used to evaluate the candidates considered several factors, including post-season honors, trophies won, individual accomplishments, impact on winning, and the difficulty level of the respective league and classification.
With that said, here are the First, Second, and Third team Best XIs and any honorable mentions who fell on the outside.
First Team Best XI
GK: Orion Ostheimer (Buffalo High School, Wyoming) - Ostheimer is a deserved first-team selection as a goalkeeper who dominated the regular season, then raised his performance to legendary levels in the playoffs. Look no further than a Wyoming 3A state final performance where the 2026 graduate kept a clean sheet through regulation and overtime, then saved two penalty kicks to win the championship. That capped off a year where Ostheimer earned 10 clean sheets in 16 matches.
D: Denton Buchanan (Mitchell High School, Florida) - As the star center back who led Mitchell High School to a storybook state championship, Buchanan earned his spot on the Best XI. The senior proved to be an elite two-way player when needed, adding several clutch goals, such as a strike in the semi-final, to match his dominant tackling and aerial qualities. The Florida 6A championship also ended a 15-year drought for the program.
D: Cade Shamblen (Russellville High School, Arkansas) - Although primarily operating as a midfielder, Shamblen earns his spot as the defensive anchor for a formidable Russellville team that won a fourth consecutive Arkansas 5A title in undefeated 22-0-1 fashion. The Central Arkansas commit scored eleven while helping the defense to 17 clean sheets and just six conceded.
D: Jonah Cooker (Bishop England, South Carolina) - Another defender who was clutch when needed, a late equalizer from Cooker helped Bishop England defeat the three-time defending champions to win the South Carolina 4A title. That 2-1 overtime victory capped off a legendary defensive run in which the Battling Bishops earned clean sheets in eight of the final ten matches.
M: Trenton Kutch (Walnut Grove, Texas) - Kutch was clutch throughout the Texas high school season, most highlighted by a state championship victory where he fractured his arm in regulation, then returned to assist the overtime game winner. That concluded an absurd 25-0-2 season where the DePaul commit scored 37 and assisted 21.
M: Nolan McLure (River Ridge, Georgia) - McClure, a well-rounded talent, could have played practically any position, so the coaching staff placed him in a box-to-box role he dominated to guide the Knights to a second straight Georgia 6A title. The 6-foot-4 senior compiled 13 goals and nine assists in his final high school season.
M: Eduardo Moreno (Bishop Amat, California) - The California talent had an incredible season for Bishop Amat with 21 goals scored, none more vital than a leaping championship-winning header after his team had gone down to nine players. A legendary moment like that, paired with a long list of post-season accolades, makes Moreno a deserved nominee.
M: Aiden Boudro (Bay High School, Mississippi) - Everyone in Mississippi knew the two-time defending champions would be running their offense through their superstar talent. Yet, it did not matter, as Boudro amassed 41 goals and 12 assists, contributing 53 of the 59 goals the Tigers managed en route to a 15-3 record and third consecutive title.
F: Leo Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic, Arizona) - It is hard to argue against the inclusion of a talent that might be the most dominant high school player in Arizona history. This season, Gutierrez scored 62 to break the state career record for goals, all while leading the Lancers to a fifth consecutive 4A trophy.
F: Camren Thompson (Southside High School, Alabama) - The UAB commit had one of the most legendary runs you will ever see with four consecutive playoff hat-tricks to lead Southside to a state final they would win. The highly technical 6-foot-4 striker was a cheat code for high school soccer with 47 goals and 9 assists to supercharge a 22-5-1 record and first title for the Tigers.
F: Cooper Conley (Woodinville High School, Washington) - Another clutch performer to make the Best XI, Conley had his way with what is a stacked Washington High School soccer scene. The towering 2026 striker scored 41 to lead the Falcons to a 4A championship, highlighted by an absurd playoff run where he provided the nine goals the team needed from the Sweet Sixteen to the trophy.
Second Team Best XI
GK: Alexander Poitan-Hernandez (Valley High School, Iowa)
D: Luke Jovanovich (Oak Mountain, Alabama)
D: Ethan Koller (Norman North, Oklahoma)
D: Chris Obenhaus (Montgomery Academy, Alabama)
M: Devin Lee (Iolani School, Hawaii)
